Witty and dynamic,a really alternative and refreshing look to the classic myth,Luhrmann provides a feast of love and affection,a fair/carefree spectacle when you won't notice.

MCT:November 17, 2008i actually really like this movie...shocking i know, it's shakespeare lol, but baz luhrmann is an awesome director, and it's a really great contempory telling of romeo & juliet, but all the old engllish does bug me, but with what's going on in this movie, i actually understand the whole play, it's great!!!

we read the play in school and it was wonderful so i decided to watch the movie cuz leonardo decaprio = HAWT!!!!!!!!! but tybalt wuz my favorite character! :P and mercutio...

Wow. Just Wow. The whole movie was just amazing. Beyond Brilliant. The ending was so tragic. Amazing movie. Wow.

I'm 14. I never thought that i would be able to get through a shakespearean movie, but this opened doors for me. i know shakespeare is amazing, but some of his work is very, sadly, inacsesable to a younger generation. this version makes that generation able to understand the magic of shakepeare. you are fully welcome to have your own opinion but dont make it so that others are turned off of a chance to discover the most amazing playwright this world has or will ever see.posted 179 days ago -
This movie is BEYOND amazing. Claire Danes is brilliant and Leonardo Dicaprio is too! I just love it SO much. My favourite scene is the scene in the swimming pool, with the proposal and you know, declaration of undying LOVE that sort of thing. But anyway, this scene makes me ACHE! it makes me wish I was in love, makes me long for it......it was soo good!

Superb. A modern, enthralling, exciting, romantic, emotional, action-packed version that does justice to the orignal play.
Excellent soundtrack, perfect script as it's true to the original language and though modern, keeps aspects of the original play threaded into the settings, situations and props.

William Shakespeare is rolling in his grave. This has got to be the most awful versions of one of the best plays in history. It was ghetto, street, inappriate, ridiculous, and insulting. All involved in making this disgrace should be sent to court and sued for taking peoples' time and money unfairly.
